Lauren Elyse was just a child when she was diagnosed with vitiligo, a disease that attacks melanin cells and causes the skin to lose its pigmentation (you may have heard of the condition before: model Winnie Harlow also has it). At first, the disease only affected the pigmentation on her knees. As Elyse grew older, however, the skin on her face began to lose color, eventually leading to a complete loss of pigmentation around both eyes.
Now 25-years-old, Elyse works as a makeup artist in Chicago, using social media to document the magic she works with a makeup brush (and fans love it— Elyse has more than 300,000 followers on Instagram alone). She didn’t get into makeup to hide her vitiligo; instead, she uses her insane skills to highlight it.
